The.Frozen.Predictions- WGC Bridgestone Invitational

Last week the golf world turned to TMZ like reporting when we saw everyone was buzzing with baby fever and the whereabouts of Paulina Gretzky and I guess Dustin Johnson too. When the dust settled we saw that Brandt Snedeker is showing he's returned to form we last saw in February. And for Canadian's we'll just have to wait another year for a Canuck to win our open.

The Course:
Firestone Country Club
Par: 70   Length: 7,400
Architect: Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Purse: 8,750,000 (1st- 1.4 mil.)

WGC Bridgestone Invitational yet another event Tiger seems to own having won here seven times and if you wondering how made other events he's won 7 times our friends over at Golf Channel have that covered for you. Just how comfortable is Tiger Woods in Akron, Ohio he's won more money here (9.36 million) than any other tour stop, he's even won here in the dark:

Past Winners:
2012  Keegan Bradley (-13)
2011  Adam Scott (-17)
2010  Hunter Mahan (-12)
2009  Tiger Woods (-12)
2008  Vijay Singh (-10)

Yahoo Fantasy Picks:

-» Starters  A-list: Bill Haas  B-list: Matt Kuchar  B-list: Zach Johnson   C-list: Adam Scott

Bench   A-list: Tiger Woods  B-list: Steve Stricker  B-list: Keegan Bradley   C-list: Lee Westwood

And I'll leave you with this thought last year Rory McIlroy was struggling with his swing and everyone thought he had lost his game. He would finish T-5 at Firestone and then run away with the PGA championship and won two of the FedEx Cup playoff events. This year we find Rory lost yet again are you betting against him??

The Frozen Predictions- 104th Canadian Open

If somehow you missed it Phil Mickelson won the British Open with amazing round of 66 on sunday. He's back to #2 in the world and looks to be challenging conventional wisdom by doing it without a driver.  If Phil can't catch Tiger in Majors won he surely will make history with major wins and oddest bag configurations. The weirdest stat of the week Phil has won Majors with 1 driver in the bag, even with 2 drivers and now he's done the deed without one. Oh and carried 5 wedges for good measure.

This week is a special one at the Frozen offices as it's the 104th Canadian Open, once year the tour makes it's only stop in the great white north and the normally the players bring some heat. The course on tap just happens to be a Jack Nicklaus design at Glen Abbey, which hosts for the 26th time. The Canadian Open generally has very low scores and fans can expect to see lots of birdies. three of the last four visits to Glen Abbey produced winning scores of -18, -17 and -22. When it comes to your fantasy team look for those players whom, make a lot of birdies.

The Course:
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Par: 72   Length: 7,253
Architect: Jack Nicklaus
Purse: 5,600,000 (1st- 936k)

Past Winners:
2012  Scott Piercy (-17)
2011  Sean O'Hair (-4)
2010  Carl Petterson (-14)
2009  Nathan Green (-18)
2008  Chez Reavie (-17)

      Maybe the most famous moment in Canadian Open history came in 2000 when Tiger Woods found his tee shot in a fairway bunker. After watching Waite put his second shot 30 feet from the hole, decided he had no choice but to go for the green. Woods sent a 6-iron over the flag 218 yards away, and then had a chip and a putt for the title-clinching birdie. With the victory, Woods became only the second golfer to capture the U.S., British and Canadian Opens in the same year, earning him the Triple Crown trophy. See where that shot ranks in a top ten of all time PGA fairway bunker shots;

 Yahoo Fantasy Picks:

Starters  A-list: Bubba Watson  B-list: Graham DeLeat  B-list: Hunter Mahan  C-list: Charl Schwartzel

Bench   A-list: Chez Reavie  B-list: Dustin Johnson  B-list: David Hearn  C-list: Billy Horschel

It's easy to cheer for the Canucks this week so hopefully David Hearn, Graham DeLeat or Mike Weir can win for all of us...

The.Frozen.Predictions- The 142nd Open Championship

Normally the weekend before a major is quite in the game of golf well that wasn't the case last weekend. from Phil the thrill on the euro tour to Jordan Spieth on the PGA tour there was excitement all around. and it wasn't the two biggest tours getting in on the act the Web.com and the Canadian PGA saw 59's, even the old guys came to play, Kenny Perry shot a 63 on Sunday to runaway with his 2nd major of the year. And if you want to read more about Jordan Spieth arrival on the big stage see this!

But this week were looking for the Champion Golfer of the Year and the Loch Ness Monster, well maybe we won`t see Nessie but after a recent trip with my buddy Charlie no one can said I didn't try. As for the champion golfer we have plenty of options the Tiger drama is that the top of the list but you can`t count out Phil or Graeme even Brandt. Who is getting some support as a 32 year old looking to follow Adam Scott and Justin Rose as first time winners. Also you can`t count out the ample Euro stars that will get no attention from the American press names like Branden Grace, Ian Poulter, Matteo Manassero and even Padraig Harrington.

The Course:
Muirfield
Par: 71   Length: 7,192
Architect: Tom Morris Sr.
Purse: 8,000,000 (1st- 1.4 mil.)

Past Winners:
2012  Ernie Els (-7)
2011  Darren Clarke (-5)
2010  Louis Oosthizen (-16)
2009  Stuart Cink (-2)
2008  Padraig Harrington (+3)

Yahoo Fantasy Picks:

Starters  A-list: Graeme McDowell  B-list: Luke Donald  B-list: Ernie Els   C-list: Jason Day

Bench   A-list: Tiger Woods  B-list: Matt Kuchar  B-list: Dustin Johnson   C-list: Branden Grace

This still the best reason to wake up at 4am to watch golf or better yet to still be drunk and not ready to go to bed. Why not when names like Els, Faldo, Watson, Trevino, Nicklaus, Player, Walter Hagen and Harry Vardon, has all won at Muirfield and this week should be no different the winner this due is destined to be a HOF'er as well.

    But mean while some where in 'merica;

The Frozen Predictions- John Deere Classic

I've been doing these predictions for a few months and 'with great power comes great responsibility', that said after seeing ESPN's latest body issue photos I can predict there's no way I'll look at good as Gary Payer when I'm 77.  On the other hand it seems I can predict winning weeks in my fantasy pool. Are you batting .1000 for your summer session? And as you can see from the tweet below I was a head of the curve on Carly Booth...

So last week we saw Jonas Blixt win The Greenbrier and Rickie Fowler taking a page out of John Daly's yardage book. Cobra/Puma might be telling their biggest star it time to start backing up their investment, but more importantly we can revisit this wonderful interview:

And finally we have the John Deere Classic this week, it's been domatied by two players the last few years and if you don't have them on your team your not only a fool, but you'll be behind the eight ball who are they? Steve Stricker won the event from '09 to '11 and happens to be 84 under in his last 15 rounds. Zach Johnson the defending champ has a simalar record, with top 3's in three of the last four years. And riding a current steak of 16 rounds in the 60's, I think you should have them on your team.

The Course:
TPC Deere Run
Par: 71   Length: 7,257
Architect: D.A. Welbring
Purse: 4,600,000 (1st- 828 K)

2012  Zach Johnson (-20)
2011  Steve Stricker (-20)
2010  Steve Stricker (-26)*
2009  Steve Stricker (-22)
2008  Kenny Perry (-16)
                                                                                                                                                                     *Tournament Record

 Yahoo Fantasy Picks:

Starters  A-list: Charles Howell III   B-list: Steve Stricker   B-list: Zach Johnson  C-list: Jordan Spieth

Bench   A-list: Boo Weekley   B-list: Louis Oostuizen  B-list: Charlie Hoffman  C-list: Harris English

As my favourite golf writers had done @Alexmyers and @ThePME I will also include photos of Paulina Gretzky and her 4th of July attire why not it's frozen over here we need some heat.

Rory v. The World or Just a Robot

I'm not going to write another story detailing the struggles of young Rory McIlroy this to me is a played out story. He's young, it's not the first time he's had a slump. You only have to look at last year to see he'll turn it around. If you need more proof remember the bounce back following the 2011 Masters and the following US Open, where he won his first major.

Alright If you like me and play the occasional game of Risk factions (azapaul on PS3 if you want to lose), you may like robots. So maybe you don't but one thing is for sure since joining team Nike Rory has become an even bigger star and his ads are only improving. While I know this isn't a Nike ad their products are still featured. As for the European Tour which this ad happens to be for, lately they've managed to bring Ryder Cup success to advertising. If you haven't seen the Padraig Harrington ad check it out too.
 This is what you here for enjoy;

The.Frozen.Predictions- The Greenbrier Classic

Normally for you Yahoo! Golf Fantasy followers I would take this opportunity to humble brag, about winning the spring session and completely dominating my competition. But since you read this blog and use the same picks I know your kicking butts and giving all the credit to The.Frozen.Golfer anyway. If you'd like I do accept thanks in the form of cash and drinks if I see you out. But wait there's more we have the big announcement coming...

First up is the Greenbrier Classic, this one of a few events that the history and the wow factor of the course and in this case the luxury resort can make the golf seem like second fiddle. But I'm predicting we'll be on 59 watch with rains in the forecast, par for the course in 2013 (pun-intended). The Greenbrier Classic saw Stuart Appleby shoot the magic number 59 in 2010 and I think we'll be talking about this number again by Sunday. We've all seen big break and the countless stories about the bomb shelters, we want to talk about the golf and not the amenities at the get away for the rich. CBS on the other hand will do a great job of promoting America's Resort.

The Course:
Old White TPC
Par: 70   Length: 7,274
Architect: C.B Macdonald
Purse: 6,300,000 (1st- 1.13 mil.)

Past Winners:
2012  Ted Potter Jr. (-16)
2011  Scott Stallings (-10)
2010  Stuart Appleby (-22)*
 Tournament Record

                                                        Yahoo Fantasy Picks:

Bench   A-list: Bill Haas   B-list: Nick Watney  B-list: Jimmy Walker   C-list: Jordan Spieth

So earlier I promised an announcement well the The.Frozen.Golfer will continue but in the effort to expand our reach and the promotion of the wonderful game we'll be working with http://www.thesportsposse.com to bring you the best in golf news and fantasy tidbits.
